New York City expands Cityspan to include the Empire State After School Program

New York City recently launched Governor Cuomo’s Empire State After School Program by implementing new and expanded programs in 94 high-need schools.  To meet grant reporting requirements, the City also implemented Cityspan software to track attendance, monitor quality indicators and measure student outcomes.

First announced as part of the Governor’s 2017 State of the State, the Empire State After School Program provides five-year grants of $1,600 per student to qualifying Districts. The investment addresses the State’s goal of leveling the playing field for children in underserved cities by increasing enrollment in after school programs by 36 percent.

Working with administrators at the New York City Department of Education, Cityspan configured Cityspan Provider to include student registration fields, activity classifications and attendance forms that comply with State requirements.  The system builds on Cityspan’s ongoing work for the Department of Education that includes data collection for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (250 schools), Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention programs (58 schools) and Students in Temporary Housing (15 shelters).
